This special issue, coordinated by Marie Brière (Head of Investor Research at Amundi & Scientific Director of the FaIR programme – Institut Louis Bachelier), brings together leading contributions, including those of:

  • Philippe Aghion, 2025 Nobel Prize in Economics, on the economic impact of AI – innovation, productivity, and the need for balanced regulation.

  • Cédric Villani, Fields Medal, on the ethical and societal issues raised by AI in finance: transparency, potential drifts, environmental impact, data sovereignty, and collective responsibility.

Featuring 14 articles by 22 experts, this issue offers a structured analysis around three main themes:

1️⃣ The economic challenges of deploying AI

Automation, innovation, productivity gains, the role of data, and accelerating idea generation.

2️⃣ The impact on the financial sector

Risk management, market transformation, alternative data, service personalisation, market finance, and inclusion.

3️⃣ Risks and supervision

Algorithmic bias, model opacity, systemic risks, alignment of objectives, technological sovereignty, and international regulatory approaches.

At the heart of this issue lies the rise of generative AI, which is reshaping decision-making, redefining value chains, and setting new standards in transparency and governance.
